This City

Driving to work yesterday, I had my iPod cranked listening to Chris Tomlin. As I was driving, God of This City started playing and the words of the chorus grabbed my heart.

“For greater things have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City
Greater thing have yet to come
And greater things are still to be done in this City”

Do you wonder how your city would look if everyone believed greater things are still to be done?

For many years, I have waited for someone else to do great things. God has given me desires to start things. Always feeling ill-equipped to act on these desires, I stepped back waiting for someone else to take the lead. But God kept pursuing me. He continued to lay His desires on my heart. Once I decided I needed to move forward in faith on His desires, He showed He was in control.

This past week, I was invited to meet with a group of other men in the community to pursue God together. The charge from the meeting was, “God has great things planned. Let’s go on God’s journey together.” It will be exciting to see where God leads each of the men in the group.

God has not just lead one group of men to fulfill His desires; He wants all of us to follow His desires.

1 Chronicles 29:18

O LORD, God of our fathers Abraham, Isaac and Israel, keep this desire in the hearts of your people forever, and keep their hearts loyal to you.

How do you think your life would change if you listened to the desires He has placed on your heart? How do you think your city would change if just half of the people in the city followed the desires God placed on their hearts?

*If God has placed a desire on your heart and fear keeps you from moving forward, please feel free to share the desire and I would like to pray and encourage you.

*If you have followed or are following God’s desire, please share and let us know how God has moved.

*If you know of someone who has followed or are following God’s desire, please share so we can see more examples of how God changes us when we trust Him to lead.
