Search me

“Search me, O God, and know my heart;
test me and know my anxious thoughts.

 See if there is any offensive way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.”

Psalm 139:23-24

How often do you let your friends come in and see your closet? When you are cleaning your house before someone comes over, do you tend to throw things in the closet to get them out of sight? For me, it’s the first place to hide the clutter.  I don’t want anyone to see my closet. Let alone search it.

“Search me and know my heart.”???

 If I let God search my heart, then He will know every one of my thoughts. No one knows I got upset at the car who caused me to drive 10 mph under the speed limit….no one knows I thought that lady in the store had a nice tan…… no one knows I was upset when my boss picked me to handle the extra work for the department. But if I ask God to search my heart, he would know everything.

“…lead me in the way everlasting.”

But if I do share all I have hidden, then I can find freedom. I can rest in Him. His strength will lead me through the struggles. He will show me how to be patient. He will show me how to turn my eyes. He will show me that my boss has enough trust in my abilities to go give me the extra work.

What do you have to share with God? Just a little secret…..

He already knows.  Now why don’t you admit what you think is hidden and let Him lead you through to freedom?
