In 2015, Changing Lanes saw explosive growth in the number of groups we offer and how many men and teenagers we are reaching—men just like Robert—who are searching for hope. From 10 to 15 men last year to over 40 men in 2015, the ministry opportunities are expanding quickly. But our ability to help these men depends on your financial support!
These are men like Robert, who have tried—and failed—to beat their addition on their own. A former military man, Robert had been exposed to porn all the time. He loved Jesus and was even a deacon in his church, but he’d only known failure as he tried to beat porn by himself.
Then Robert attended one of our traditional Changing Lanes groups, where men meet locally in one of our partnering churches. Here, men just like Robert do far more than go through a curriculum to deal with sexual addiction; they form the tight bonds of accountability and brotherhood necessary to sustain life change.
Robert shared what he received with his adult son, and eventually the two of them shared it with Robert’s grandson as well! Robert completed our Changing Lanes program, built strong relationships, and experienced true, lasting life change. But it may be Robert’s wife who best summed up the results of Robert’s transformation: “All I wanted was my old life back, but what I received was even better!”
But life change isn’t limited to groups that meet the Tulsa, Oklahoma area. We launched our new GPS initiative in 2015, and these groups meet virtually on computers, tablets, and even smartphones from anywhere they can find an Internet connection. GPS groups offer accountability, flexibility, and a degree of privacy that is perfect for anyone but is an especially good fit for church leaders who may be struggling to overcome temptation.
However, pornography and sexual addiction strikes at younger ages than ever, and the longer men wait to deal with the issue, the harder it is to overcome (as Robert can tell you). That is why we have started new groups for teenagers that focus on their unique temptations and social pressures, and we are launching initiatives we call Parent Technology Events to help educate parents in how they can help their kids.
With ministry expansion have come ever-greater financial demands, and ministry opportunities have been outstripping funding. Please prayerfully consider making a year-end donation that will allow us to continue to change lives as we reach even more men in 2016. Or, even better, consider becoming a Pathfinder by choosing to give on a regular monthly basis. All your donations are of course tax-deductible.
Your generosity is blazing a trail to freedom from sexual addition for men across the country. But consider this: as God gives these men freedom, your gifts are changing far more than the lives of individual men—you are touching entire families by offering them new life through restoration in Christ!
Thank you for prayerfully supporting Changing Lanes,,
“After struggling in various degrees with pornography since I was a child, Changing Lanes has equipped me with tools that not only have helped to free me from the pull of porn but also to dig deeper as to why I turned to porn as an outlet. Today I can recognize those causes and have successfully been released from those chains that kept me bound for over 40 years.”
